I love this session! We were coming up on summer here, so we still have a bit of breakup snow, BUT we hadn't lost our ability to shoot at my favorite time of day, during golden hour. The lighting in these photos are my favorite. Warm, and provides some depth to the photos without being too harsh.
This couple was so much fun! They were up for everything, and a few of my all time favorite photos came from their session. This momma rocked this beautiful dress from Sew Trendy Accessories, which fit her perfectly and looked amazing. This was the most easy going session so we got to do some exploring at this location I had been to a few times before, but hadn't seen everything it had to offer. (Hello, beautiful mountain range!)
A few weeks after this shoot, I got to meet their amazing baby boy before I left for vacation, and I'm excited to share those photos as well. Big congratulations to this happy family, I am so happy you chose me for your photography!

Now that we're solidly in winter here in Alaska, let's have a little sunshine in our lives with a wedding I did back in July!
It was a hot, beautiful day. With a super fun wedding party, and some of my favorite clients, this wedding was so much fun. And their theme, is to die for. Rustic, neutral, yellows... I need to decorate my house like that.
I've been doing photos for this couple since their son was a newborn and they were in a desperate search for a last minute photographer, and found me. I did little man's photos every 3 months for his first year, so as you can imagine, I got to know his parents as well. And they are SO much fun. Their personalities go together so well. So when they asked me to do their wedding photography, I was thrilled. I got to come hang out with them, and their venue, Gloryview Farm in Wasilla, was amazing. Every detail was thought of, and I'm honored I was able to be a part of their day.

You guys. It's been so cooooooold. I'm talking so cold that the other day I walked out my front door and thought Oh! It feels warmer today! It was 6 degrees. SIX. DEGREES. So just the fact that I thought that was warm tells you how its been for the last couple weeks. But I'm really hoping this is a precursor to what our summer looks like, because although its been way too cold, it's been nonstop clear and sunny. As I'm typing this, it's 2 degrees outside. Hurry up (sunny) Alaskan summer!
I've been dreaming about warmth so I thought I would post a session that I did in the fall with fall colors, and it was clearly warm enough that we were all comfortable in long sleeves and no coat.
I loved this session. Mom kept telling me that my girl here was not super into having her picture taken, but by the end of this session, we were laughing and having so much fun that it wasn't even work anymore. And look how gorgeous she is. Effortlessly, might I add. Because I do a lot of child portraits, every time I get someone in front of my camera that will follow directions and laugh with me, it's a good day.

This session. THIS session. I'm fairly spoiled by this location that we had our session, my first time taking pictures in Hatcher's Pass. I've been up there before in the winter for sledding, but for maternity photos in the fall, I'm pretty sure sledding can't top that experience.
Quick confession about this session: I was sick. A couple of my other favorite maternity sessions were done while I was sick, so maybe germs = creativity for me. Here's the thing about being a photographer in the fall in Alaska though; you can't stop, you can't blink, or the fall will be gone and you'll have missed the colors. Last year I think I got 2 fall sessions in with the colors before a wind storm came through and I think our fall lasted less than a week. So germs aren't going to be able to stop me from going out and being able to capture this gorgeous time of year.
This couple was SO much fun. They took me to all their favorite spots up the Hatcher's pass road, and everything was breathtaking. Add in a couple of beautiful red dresses from Sew Trendy Accessories, and every image came out gorgeous.

It has been a busy BUSY fall! Along with my oldest kiddo starting kindergarten, my 3 year old has started preschool this year! Needless to say, adjusting to 2 different school schedules has been much different from our relaxed summer where we had little to no schedule.
But let's talk about this summer. If you live in Alaska, I bet right now you're wondering if we had a summer, and I'm right there with you. It seemed like it rained. so. much. Which means that sessions had to be rescheduled, but where do you reschedule to when there is nothing but rain into the end of forever? So this session fell on one of those days that was questionable. It miiiiight rain, but it might just stay cloudy, in which case I'm totally fine to come out and do a session, but a wet session is fun for nobody. So we head out to do our session, and I'm feeling iffy about the weather. We get there, and the SUN COMES OUT. Right at the perfect time to give us a little hint of warmth and sunlight, and I kid you not, as soon as I got back in my car after we were finished and got on the highway, it started pouring.
I'm in love with this session, the light, the dress (thank you Sew Trendy Accessories for these gorgeous dresses that make my maternity clients feel so beautiful!), the gorgeous client, and her handsome husband.
